Club update from the General Manager – Monday 6 April

Published on 6th April 2020 in Uncategorised

We had 350 members out on course over the weekend after our temporary closure, it is great to see you back. Long may it continue!

Congratulations to David Cuda & Bart Bourgeois who both had Hole in One’s on Sunday on the 5th.

At this stage we are treading carefully and trading day by day in the hope that Covid-19 cases continue to remain manageable in NSW and we are not forced into the full lockdown.

Thank you for your how you are adhering to the social distancing rules and the new golf rules that are in place.  I understand that to some, these measure may seem over the top. Please remember that these measures are in place to enable you to continue playing golf at Monash.

The recent Captains letter mentioned the importance of one booking per member on consecutive days.

  • Weekends from 18 April onwards – Members to pre-book 1 day only.

It is important not to book for both days so all members get a chance to have a game.

However, the time sheets will be left open at all times and if spare spots are available on the day of play members may book and play even if they have played the day before.

Online booking must be made. There will be no walk up and play arrangements.

With a 1 tee start it only takes one group to fall behind to ruin it for the rest of the members. The flow on affects are members mingling around the clubhouse waiting to tee off. We need to avoid this so keep up with the group in front.

Moving forward our plan is this:

  • Adhere to a very comfortable Pace of Play which in 2’s is a maximum of 3 ½ hours.

  • Importantly for those who do not want to handle a physical card. The ‘miscore’ scoring app for golf allows members to input their own scores without the need to hand in a card. It is working well at other clubs. Easy to use, why not download this free app and give it a try. Daniel will be able to advise members on how to set up and use.

  • Only play one ball when playing social golf to avoid holding up play.

  • Driving Range – We have removed more mats and will only have 8 mats available. The driving range is to be used as a warm up for those playing on the day so with this in mind the driving range is only available as per playing rights. i.e.5 day members no Wednesday or Saturday.

Please do not congregate in groups of more than 2 as this will jeopardise the ability to safely operate the range. To control numbers practice will be from mats only.

  • Pies and sandwiches will be available in the proshop from Wednesday.

  • Limit of 2 members in the proshop with staff at one time.

  • Practice Nets – will be available from Tuesday.

  • Putting green – only a maximum of 2 players on the putting green at any one time from Tuesday and restricted to just prior to your tee time.

  • Chipping green will remain closed until further notice.

  • Tuition – Glen, Jenny, Dan and Adam are available for lessons. These will be conducted on the far left of the driving range with all instructors practising safe social distancing measures.

Should you attend the club during this time, I urge you to give special consideration to the staff still working at the club to provide you this service. They have seen many of their workmates stood down through no fault of their own and feelings are very raw.

These are difficult times for everyone and the staff on duty are risking their own health so you can have access to our beautiful course and its environment.

We will continue to communicate to members either by individual email or on the ‘Members Home’ screen on the website.

I would like to wish all our members and their families the best of health during this uncertain time and look forward to a time in the future when we all can gather again at our wonderful Club without the restrictions this pandemic has imposed.

Regards

John Harrison – General Manager
