Course Update 27 May 2021

Published on 27th May 2021 in Uncategorised

We received 30mm of rainfall towards the end of last week. Every millimetre feels like 100 at the moment. The rainfall caused carts to not be allowed on course on Monday the 24th. We have been selective mowing areas this week, the main focus on greens and tees. The soil profile on the course fairways and rough is at saturation point and has been too soft for our mowers to go out. This has had an impact on course presentation, although has helped preserve turf quality in weak shaded areas.

Mowing of the remainder of the course will be completed Thursday and Friday this week, which will help  improve course presentation for the weekend.

Course Projects:

  • Bunker renovation work continued this week, completing sand replacement in the 10th and 9a bunkers (Importing 18 tonne of new sand)
  • We have planted out the 5th hole, these plants have protectors around them, this to stop the wallabies from destroying them
  • The 6th tee work is near complete, we have run out of mulch and are awaiting restock from local tree contractors
  • New sand bins were constructed on the 8th and 16th holes
  • Work on improving the 17th and 18th pathway continues

Next week’s program is shown below, this combined with scheduled course maintenance:

  • Dust greens
  • Apply herbicide around green surrounds (winter grass control)
  • Apply fungicide to back 9 fairways
  • Contractors to repair kerbing on 17th path

Tuesday 1st

  • Apply fungicide to front 9 fairways
  • Apply fungicide to green surrounds
