VALE – Russell Marx – Patron of Monash CC
Published on 19th October 2022 in UncategorisedIt is with great sadness we pass on the news that Monash Patron and long term member Mr Russell Marx passed away on Wednesday afternoon October 19. The Funeral Russell served on the Board of the club, represented the club in Pennant golf, had a beautiful swing and absolutely loved being a member of Monash. We will miss him. RIP.
I have left the note Russell sent back after he was named Patron and what it meant to him.
Dear Monash Board,
To say I am “blown away” would be the understatement of the decade. The honour and privilege that you have decided to bestow on me is very humbling and appreciated beyond words.
They say in order to make an impression on someone it is not what you do for them but how you make them feel – you cannot know, as I cannot describe how good, amazing, appreciated and recognized I feel. This is certainly one of the highlights of my life and has made a lifetime impression for me – thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Due to my medical circumstances I have not been able to come to the club for many months but have been fortunate to keep in touch with many members during these unprecedented times. Based on the amazing feedback that I have received I wanted to congratulate John and his team for “weathering the storm” and not only providing members with the ability to play the game they love but to do it in a way that has maintained the incredible pride that members have for the club and the camaraderie which has become the foundation for the success the club has been experiencing in recent times.
This could not have been achieved without the practical, efficient and clear thinking of the Board of Directors who have provided the guiding light – What a team – what a combination – well done to all.
Monash has been an integral part of my life for over 30 years and besides missing playing I miss the membership interaction and club spirit which I enjoyed so much for most of the 30 years. I feel privileged and grateful that over my membership years that I had the opportunity to give back to Monash who has given me so much. For this to be acknowledged with the appointment as Club Patron is definitely “the cherry on the top”. Thanks so much!!!!
I wish you all the best as you continue to guide and make Monash “The best golfing experience on the North Shore/Northern Beaches”
Kind Regards, Russell Marx
Russell joined Monash in 1988 and has continually given back to the Club through active participation as a Director, contribution as Manager/Captain of Super Seniors Pennant teams as well as putting up his hand to assist at every opportunity with the club’s activities.
