Mixed Pennant Team sunk by The Coast

On a very damp, blustery day at Cabramatta, Monash Mixed Pennant Team took on The Coast GC in a quarter-final match.

With both teams being their respective division winners, it always promised to be a close affair and so it proved to be.

Ever reliable Tinika and Jeff Bliss set things off in good style for Monash, recording a 4 & 2 victory before dashing back to Monash for the Club AGM. Things slipped a little for Monash then as Young Kim and Glenn Hooker struggled against a strong pairing and lost on the 13th hole. Bets and Dave Gregory put up a sterling fight and were unlucky to lose on the last green, giving Coast the edge.

Lady Captain, Jody Drutman, with partner Gareth Dawber battled all the way, eventually triumphing on the final hole but, sadly, whilst this excitement was happening, Ali Gatland and Russell Pearse’s fight back from four down was coming to an end on the 17th green to give The Coast GC a three games to two match win.

A disappointing end to a good season’s effort, but planning for 2024 is already underway.
