Monash Master Pennants win a tight semi, now in the Final

Our Master Pennants team had a hard fought win over Pennant Hills at Mona Vale. With Jacqui Morgan unavailable, John Harrison came into the team with Grant Howe making way for Gary Dickerson. The scores were not looking good at half way however as was the case last year, the team dug deep and pulled off some amazing last hole heroics.

At #7 & #8 both Gary and David Spiteri were all square with one hole to play. Gary hit the shot of the day on the difficult 18th to 2 feet for birdie to win 1up. David muscled his 2nd onto the green and with his opponent in trouble calmly 2 putted for a 1up win.

At #6 John was 2up after 9 holes and sealed his match on the 17th for a 2/1 win. James Douthwaite played #5 and in a see sawing affair was 1 down playing the last. With a beautiful approach to the last the pressure was on his opponent. He could not deliver and James managed a timely par to have an important squared match for the team.

With #4 Steve Robinson beaten by an opponent playing scintillating golf, #3 Doug Cullam recovered from being 3 down in his match early to take control eventually sealoing his match 4/2. It goes to show in match play you are never out of it!

With Monash having 4.5 matches in the book there was no need for #1 Duncan McIver or #2 Brett Jardine to finish their matches and they were called tied games.

Monash now plays the strong Kogarah team who have gone through all game sundefeated. The Final will be played at Twin Creeks on Sunday 2 July at 9.30am.
