Round 4 Match Report

An early start greeted us for the Round 4 rematch against Stonecutters at their home course after our victory at home in round 3. The Stonecutters team was always going to be very keen to get their first win for the season and the home advantage they had was going to make our day difficult.

Spencer Morgan was a welcome addition to the team post his annual ski trip and he had the opportunity to lead us away, a couple of early cobwebs were quickly blown away and he managed to win his match 4 & 3.

Our middle matches, which have been consistent throughout the earlier rounds unfortunately faltered with Anthony Tse, Jesse De Rooy, Duncan MacIver unfortunately lost tight matches.

Sunil Patel was his usual consistent self winning his match 2 up, with this bunker shot on 18 being worth the price of admission alone (we will leave out the fact that the matches are free to watch!). Jamie Smith had a return match against the same opponent from our previous encounter, this match featured some amazing shot making and scrambling from both players. Unfortunately, Jamie lost some holes late and ended his match 2 & 1 down.

The overall result of a 5 – 2 loss results in our match against Penrith at home this weekend being critical to leaving the teams destiny in our own hands.

As with every other week, a big thank you to the caddies and spectators who made the journey along the M2/M7!
